What touches your skin for eight hours a night is flax and nothing else.
It's textured — and we'd rather tell you that now than have you discover it at bedtime. Real flax has body to it on the first night. That's the fibre, not a flaw.
Then it starts to give. By the tenth wash it's noticeably softer, and it keeps going for years — long after cotton has gone thin and started to pill. Every night you sleep on it, it improves. Anything that feels buttery straight out of the packethas been softened with chemicals that wash out — and take the breathability with them.

The soft rumple is how you know it's flax — if a sheet stays flat and crisp, something synthetic is holding it there. Don't iron it. Pull it from the dryer while it's still slightly damp, put it straight on the bed, and it settles into that lived-in look on its own.
Ours have already done it. Every piece is stonewashed at the mill, so the shrinkage happens before it reaches you — and we cut our sizes to the finished dimensions, not the pre-wash ones.
Expect a little settling in the first wash. Wash warm rather than hot, dry on low, and it stays true to size.
Yes — that's the point. Machine wash cold or warm at 30°C on a gentle cycle with a mild liquid detergent, and use less than you think. Tumble dry low and take them out while slightly damp.
Never use fabric softener. It coats the flax in a waxy film that blocks the breathability you paid for and stops the linen softening naturally. Skip the bleach too. Give the load room to move — linen doesn't like being crammed.
Once a week or so, like any bedding. Flax is naturallymoisture-wicking and odour-resistant, so it stays fresher between washes than cotton does — and unlike almost everything else you own,washing makes it better, not worse.

Most bedding sold as "linen" is a blend — flax cut with cotton, viscose or polyester to bring the cost down. It looks close in a photograph. It doesn't breathe the same, and it doesn't last.
